Our Story

It started with an itch. A literal itch, caused by an aluminium deodorant in the summer of 2015.

That sent Thomas Richard looking for a natural deodorant that actually worked but he couldn't find one. The effective ones weren't natural, the natural ones didn't last past lunch, and nearly all of them came in plastic headed for the bin.

So he made one.

Two years in the making

The formula took two years to get right, developed with some of Australia's best cosmetic chemists.

Aluminium free, vegan, and scented by natural perfumers using essential oils, absolutes and resinoids rather than synthetic fragrance.

We invented the refill

In 2018 when we launched our deodorant, we also launched the world's first biodegradable refill for deodorant. A durable case you keep, and a refill that goes in the compost when it's finished. A number of brands have launched something similar since. That was always the point.

Made in Sydney, by us

ASUVI is made in our own facility in Brookvale, on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Not outsourced, not white-labelled. That enables us to keep the quality high and when something needs changing, we can change it quickly.

A passion for the environment

Thomas grew up by the sea, moved to the mountains at 18, and came back to Sydney's beaches to start ASUVI. The care for the outdoors isn't a marketing angle, it's the whole point.

We give 1% of every sale to environmental causes.
